Saturday, 27th May 2019 was a historic day for cricket in Edo State as Cricket Equipment were donated to Edo Boys High School, Benin City. by Community Sports and Educational development.

Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED) is a UK based NGO that seek to use participation in sports related activities to promote the book reading habit of Nigerian children and youths, especially those living in rural communities in the Niger Delta area. The goal is to develop well balanced sports men and women, as well as use sports to empower young people to fulfill their potential and achieve their dream of earning a living through sports and representing Nigeria in future international sporting events.

 

The event saw sprung a lot of excitement from school pupils ranging from JSS 1 to SS 3 who were in attendance regardless of schools being on holidays. Not left out include Edo Boys High School Principals from both Junior and Senior School, Representatives from the Edo State Sports Council, Ministry of Education, Cricket enthusiast from the state, members of the Press and more.

 

The Director of CSED, Mr Cornilius Ehimaghe, expressed delight in being able to give back to his motherland especially in the areas of sports and Education.

 

Receiving the Equipment on behalf of Edo Boys High School was the Vice Chairman, Barrister Abraham Oviawe, who thanked the NGO for their gesture and contribution in promoting sports in the state. he stressed that the equipment will be maximally utilized to produce the next generation of Cricketers in the state.
