ADAMAWA AND BORNO STATES

On arrival in Home State, the team led by the N.D.M, North, Mr. Oche Joe Onoja met with the Director of Sports Commission, Mallam Husseni and Director of planning in the sport commission, Madam Ishaku Zainab.

After the interface, outline of the process of the program was discussed. Below is the progress.

 

DAY ONE: (PRESENTATION/SEMINAR)

Eleven game masters, four ministry officials attended the seminar. Introduction to elementary coaching and the basics of cricket was taught to the game masters and others.

DAY TWO:

Highlight of what was discussed on the day one was done. Questions and answers sessions where done. Practicals where taught, putting to practice what was learnt in theory. Members of the Gombe State Cricket Association where inaugurated on the same day. Mallam Mohammed, the protocol officer to his Excellency, the governor of Gombe State emerged the chairman. In his brief speech, the director of Gombe State Commission promised to raise a team for the National Youth Games if only N.C.F. will assist in deploying a coach to the State.

 

DAY THREE

On the third day, as early as 7:00am, pupils/students started arriving Gombe State Township Stadium, the venue with Mass participation. The highlight was the declaration of the event open by the Director of Sports Commission.
Over 200 pupils/students attended the program. The children were shared into groups and game masters were assigned to each group for effective and efficient delivery. It was a fun filled day for both the students and teachers.

 

ON THE 24th – 26th JUNE, 2019 the train moved to BORNO/ADAMAWA STATES

 

On arrival the team in Borno State, led by the National Development Manager, North, Mr. Oche Joe Onoja met with the ministry officials of the two States, the senior players of Borno State and the R.D.O of the North East, Mallam Mohammed Mustafa, all were on ground waiting for our arrival. Everything was run in same State (Borno) due to security challenge in Adamawa. All the players in Adamawa State were conveyed to Borno State. The venue of the program was supposed to be University of Maiduguri Sports Complex but due to the large numbers of participants from invited and uninvited schools, FURY became the new alternative where we had crowd close to 500 students.

DAY ONE: (PRESENTATION/SEMINAR)

Twenty-one game masters, nine ministry officials attended the seminar. Introduction to elementary coaching, where the basics of cricket was taught to the game masters and others.

 

DAY TWO:

Highlights of what was discussed on day one was done. Questions and answers sessions were done. Practicals were taught, putting to practice what was learnt in theory.
In Adamawa, we didn’t do inauguration but we’ll do that later. Borno State has existing association, so there is no need for a new inauguration.
I gave a speech on how to take the development of the game to another level. One of the principals of the invited colleges mentioned that all they want is a coach who will guide the students on how to play the game.

DAY THREE:

On the third day, all the pupils/students arrived at the venue for the program.
The event was declared open by the chief coach of Borno State and Adamawa, Mallam Salisu Ibrahim and Mallam Jibril Aminu who are now our Director Technical.

 

The children were shared into groups and game masters were assigned to each group for effective and efficient delivery. It was a fun filled day for both the students and teachers.
