Kwibuka Women’s T20i, Match 12 Nigeria vs Kenya
In a thrilling encounter in the Kwibuka Women’s T20I, the Female Yellow Greens fell short of the required target, losing to Kenya in Match 12 of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Nigeria elected to field and managed to restrict the Kenya Women’s team to a total of 115 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The Nigerian bowlers displayed a disciplined performance, keeping the Kenyan batters in check throughout the innings.
However, the second innings saw the Nigerian team struggle with their batting. They rapidly lost wickets, which put them under immense pressure. Despite a valiant effort by Lilian Ude, who scored 23 runs off 18 balls, the Female Yellow Greens could not recover. Ude’s resistance ended at the 15.1 over when she was caught by Judith Odiambo leaving Nigeria in 5th position on the tournament point table.
The Nigerian women’s team was bowled out for a total of 92 runs, falling short of the target set by Kenya.
Kenya emerged victorious, securing a crucial win in the tournament, while Nigeria will need to regroup as they prepare for their next match against Botswana.
