The process for ensuring that the best players represent the Country come April started today 18th February, 2018 with 33 players chosen across the country, who were divided into three teams (Alakija, Kalada, & Nwokedi) respectively.
Game 1: Team Kalada vs Team Alakija
Team Kalada won the toss and elected to bat first scoring a total of 103 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Friday Udoh was the top performer with the bat hitting 43 runs off 43 balls.
Muhammad Taiwo and Chima Akachukwu took 3 and 2 wickets respectively for Team Alakija
In the second innings, Team Alakija started slowly but went all the way to score the required 104 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 16.4 overs
Team Alakija won by 6 wickets
Game 2: Team Alakija vs Team Nwokedi
Team Alakija won the toss and elected to bat first posting a good total of 143 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Captain Onikoyi Ademola top scored for his team posting 54 runs off 29 balls supported by Ayannaike Joshua with 30 runs and Oyede Leke with 21 runs.
Danladi Isaac and Azeez Salako took 2 wickets each for Team Nwokedi.
In the second Innings, team Nwokedi scored 144 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 19.5 overs. The second partnership of Dolapo Gafar 42 runs off 38 balls and Obinna Chisom 19 runs off 12 balls led their team to a good start. Adu Bimbo’s 25runs and Chimezie Onwuzulike’s 19 runs was enough to see their team over the line narrowly.
Team Nwokedi won by 1 wicket.
