The Nigeria Cricket Federation is pleased to inform the General Public that a 14 man list have been announced to represent the country in the ICC Sub-Regional Tournament from the 12th –  22nd April at the prestigious Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval in Lagos.

The Federation has been engaged in a series of camping from January where 33 players were invited to the first phase of camping and later reduced to 24 players for the second phase. After 10 days of the 2nd phase camping exercise, the final squad list of 14 players have been drawn out to represent the Country in April.

Among the players who made the eventual cut are, Onwuzilike Chimezie, Oyede Leke, Seye Olympio, Ayannaike Joshua and more. Earning their first international cap for the Senior National team A.K.A (YELLOW GREENS), include Taiwo Mohamed from Lagos State, Adu Bimbo from Ogun State, Sylvester Okpe, from Kaduna State, and Danladi Isaac also from Kaduna State.

Other players to make the final team are the 3 foreign based players; Saheed Akolade (Australia), (Sola Anya (U.K) and Dotun Olatunji (Canada).

Addressing the players at the end of the camping exercise, the Vice President of the Federation, Mr. Uyi Akpata, expressed satisfaction at the players that have been shortlisted to represent the country in the tournament. He encouraged the players to give all it takes to win the tournament on home soil while siting that the board of the NCF is poised to making sure everything is in place to ensure the players are comfortable and play with the right frame of mind. The Vice president also assured the players of a brighter future for Cricket in Nigeria and encouraged those who did not make the list to remain steadfast and continue to give their best.

The National team Coach has been named in the person of Mr Obruthe Ogimi, to be assisted by Mr. Emmanuel Okwudili.

Onwuzilike Chimezie will retain the captainship status for the team to be assisted by Ademola Onikoyi.

Mr. Kome Agodo has been appointed as the Team Manager for the team.

The final team will go into close camping until the tournament proper.
