EDO BOYS HIGH SCHOOL INTER HOUSE SPORTS (CRICKET EVENT) REPORT.

 

The 2019 Inter House Sports of Edo Boys High School, Benin City was eventful and historic. The program which was chaired by Mr. Uyi Akpata, the Vice President of Nigeria Cricket Federation/ Chairman of Edo State Cricket Association was loaded with a lot of sporting activities namely, Athletics, Cricket, Javelin, Judo, Short Put, Table Tennis, Volleyball etc.

 

CRICKET EVENT.

Eight (8) Houses featured in the event which are as follows; Edeki (Sky Blue) House, Ogbemudia (Green) House, Edaiken (White) House, Osula (Yellow) House, Ovonramwen (Pink) House, Akenzua (Lemon) House, Washington (Blue) House and Okenwa (Purple) House.

The Houses were balloted into two groups. Six of the Houses has a maximum of Fourteen (14) players, while the other Two (2) Houses has a minimum of Thirteen (13) players each.

 

Group A:

  1. Edeki (Sky Blue) House.
  2. Ogbemudia (Green) House.
  3. Edaiken (White) House.
  4. Osula (Yellow) House.

 

Group B.

  1. Ovonramwen (Pink) House.
  2. Akenzua (Lemon) House.
  3. Washington (Blue) House.
  4. Okenwa (Purple) House.

 

It is on good record that Cricket Event commenced on Monday 11th and ended on Friday 15th March, 2019.

 

Day One (1), Two (2), and Three (3) witnessed Four (4) matches each day. While day Four (4) was Semi Finals and Third place matches and Friday 15th was the Final match.

 

The Semi Finalists were as follows;

Osula (Yellow) House, Akenzua (Lemon) House, Okenwa  (Purple) House and Edeki (Sky Blue) House. While the finalists were Osula (Yellow) House and Okenwa  (Purple) House.

 

Please note that the Third place and Final match was Ten (10) overs respectively.

 

It is worthy to note that at the end of the tournament; Okenwa (Purple) House won Gold, Osula (Yellow) House won Silver and Edeki (Sky Blue) House won Bronze respectively.

 

INDIVIDUAL CASH AWARDS:

 

  1. Best Cricketer (MVP):

Ogbemudia Eweka- Captain of Okenwa (Purple) House.

 

  1. Batsman of the Series:

Ogbemudia Eweka (Okenwa/ Purple House).

 

  1. Bowler of the Series:

Blessed Chukwuwenu (Osula/ Yellow House).

 

  1. Wicket Keeper of the Series:

Solomon Chilemanya (Akenzua/ Lemon House).

 

  1. Fielder of the Series:

Victory Onojaiefe (Edeki/ Sky Blue House).

 

Highlight of the event was the decoration of players with medals and best Cricketer Award Glass Plaque which was donated by Mr. Uyi Akpata.

 

It is pertinent to note that Cricket was featured in Edo Boys High School Inter House Sports, the first ever in Nigeria courtesy of Mr. Uyi Akpata who believed cum supported the program in kind, cash, materials and refreshments.

The total of One Hundred and Ten (110) players participated in the event.

 

We want to use this medium to thank and appreciate Mr. Uyi Akpata for his love and support in making the event a huge success. No doubt, your presence, love, commitments and supports over the years hath made Cricket in Edo Boys High School and it’s environs the number One (1) Sport.

 

Our appreciation also goes to the Vice Chairman, Board Members of Edo State Cricket Association, Principals (Senior/ Junior) and staff of Edo Boys High School for their unusual cooperation.
