Curtain falls on the 2021 edition of the Kwibuka Women’s Tournament in Rwanda.

Kenya pulled off a surprise in the final match after dismissing tournament’s favourite Namibia for just 69 runs all out in 15.5 overs.

Namibia looked invincible throughout the tournament after winning all 5 matches prior to the final especially the confidence boosting 91 runs victory in the semi-final against Nigeria.

Kenya quickly scored to required total of 72 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 11 overs to win the tournament and a record 3 times.

Nigeria’s last chance for pride and bragging rights were shattered after suffering a third place defeat to host Rwanda, making it the second defeat in as many matches.

Rwanda won the toss and elected to bat first posting a total of 112 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

In the second innings, Nigeria battled hard but fell agonisingly short of the required total to record 104 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs to lose the game by 8 runs.

Blessing Etim was named player of the match in the win against Botswana and the only Nigerian player to make the team of the tournament.

The Female Yellow Greens departed Kigali on Sunday 13th June 2021, to bid farewell to an exciting tournament with loads of positives to take home.
