Following the successful Umpires and Scorers seminar and the Inauguration of Akwa IBOM State chapter of ACUSN, the 2021 edition of Ibom Cricket league began on Saturday 17th July with top players from Rivers State league and a State executive members taking the bowl off ceremony.
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Sir Charles Udoh was at Four Towns Sec Sch Cricket pitch to bowl off the new Cricket league in Uyo.
Sir Charles Udoh who has been playing football and a lover of sports said he was impressed with the level of Cricket progress in the State. ” I came to honor this legendary game as it has offered our youths the opportunity to excel and shun social vices”
Five foreign players from Rivers State Cricket league grace the Ibom Cricket league tagged ‘Not fast enough’. The Ultimate CC had three out of the five foreign players and more are expected to add flavor and excitement as the league progresses.
In the first match Blue Diamond Cricket Club lost to foreign based star studded Ultimate Cricket Club by 9 wickets.
National team players, Esther Sandy and Salome Sunday’s bold effort could not save the Diamonds.
While Maximus CC fell to Avatar CC by 20runs
