The Nigeria National Women’s Cricket team A.K.A ‘Female Yellow Greens’ are set to depart the shores of country in a quest to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022. The Ladies that have been camped in Benin City, Edo State for the last 6 weeks will be in the shape of their lives when they play against Uganda, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon in group B at the Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifier in Botswana from the 7th -20th September.

Blessing Etim, the captain of the team expressed optimism about the tournament; ‘’ We have done a lot of work in camp and trained very hard individually and as a group, the last couple of weeks have been intense and now we look forward to the competition. We hope to do our best and correct the areas where we have been lacking in the recent past’’.

 

Head coach of the Team Mr. Onome Oghenekevwe echoed the position of his captain that the ladies are in high spirits, poised and ready to do themselves and the country proud.

 

Thophilus Ibodeme has been named the assistant coach of the team with Mike Omoigui as Team Manager.
