From the humble beginning, Salome wore the nation’s shirt, represented the country in many events including the just concluded 8th Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament and got selected to the Elite squad. She won the Player of the Match Award in one of the Elite games and today she is playing in the Commonwealth Select XI.

Salome Sunday will play alongside former Indian cricket duo Dodda Ganesh and David Johnson as well as “Joe” van Niekerk, a South African former professional rugby union player in the Commonwealth 11 which will be dominated by other Commonwealth delegates. They will go head to head with Africa 11, another team which will bring together renowned sports veterans associated with Cricket in Africa and beyond, including the likes of former Zimbabwean cricketers Hamilton Masakadza and Elton Chigumbura.

Amongst the notable names mentioned, Salome will line up with is David Seaman, a former English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. In a career lasting from 1981 to 2004, he is best known for his time playing for Arsenal FC. He won 75 caps for England, and is the country’s second-most capped goalkeeper. He has always been a passionate fan of Cricket where he appeared in many events.

Salome Sunday’s profile and records continue to soar high and this development is indeed good for Nigeria Cricket.

During the event, delegates will have a chance to get involved in fun drills with the women’s national team, learn about the history of Rwandan cricket, and then watch a competitive cricket match whilst networking.

According to the schedule, delegates arrive at 12 pm to watch or train with the women’s national team in fun cricket drills on the pitch.
