Nigeria Cricket Federation has announced the squad that will be participating at the the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup Africa Qualifier taken place in Botswana from the 1st to 13th of September 2022.
The bulk of players selected are products of the robust domestics National U-17 championship with a few of them already with senior national team experience. Preparations have been ongoing for the last 1 month with the players scheduled into structured camps across the different regions of the country.
Miracle Imimole, one of the duo that attended the 1 month Under-16 High Performance Academy India, in 2019, will lead the team as Captain, supported by Rukayat Abdulrasak who made her Senior debut at the Kwibuka Women Tournament in June this year.
Other familiar names include Lucky Piety, Oseyande Omonkhobhio and Lillian Ude to mention a few.
The team will depart the shores of the country on the 30th of August for Gaborone, Capital of Botswana where they will compete with other countries such as Namibia, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Tanzania and host Botswana.
