Nigeria Senior Men’s team have emerged champions of the West Africa Trophy 2nd editions with victory against Rwanda in the final. After 10 days of fierce action and renewed rivalry, Nigeria won 9 out of their 10 matches in the tournament with only one loss against Rwanda on match day 6. Rwanda emerged 2nd position with 6 victories and Zambia with 4 victories, leaving Sierra Leone on the bottom of the log with just one victory from 10 games.

Zambia who made their first international appearance in 8 years having faced sanctions from the International Cricket Council (ICC) were very impressive during the tournament by beating higher ranked team of Sierra Leone 3 times and a shock but very classy win against Rwanda.
President of the Federation Dr. Uyi Akpata expressed delight at the successful hosting of the tournament in Nigeria while praising the performance of the national team by establishing their regional dominance in the game. He further emphasized the importance of hosting the tournament, promising to make it an annual event with more participants. The President thanked the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their unwavering support towards the sustained growth and development of Cricket in Nigeria and also used to opportunity to invite partners to support the game in Nigeria.
