The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has set the stage for another transformative chapter in the country’s cricket journey following the successful conduct of its 2025 Board Elections. The election, which brought together stakeholders from across the cricketing landscape, produced a blend of experienced administrators and fresh voices to steer the sport over the next four years.
In a well-organised and transparent process, Dr Uyi Akpata emerged as President, continuing his leadership role after a period marked by notable growth in both grassroots and elite cricket. His re-election signals continuity and a strong commitment to sustaining the federation’s momentum in developing the game nationwide.
Supporting him is Wale Obalola, who was elected Vice President, bringing a wealth of administrative experience and strategic vision to the executive leadership team.
Representation from the six geopolitical zones reflects the federation’s inclusive approach to cricket development. Elected zonal representatives are:
Chika Okoro (South East)
Tayo Atoloye (South West)
Ladan Usman (North West)
Femi John (South South)
Dare Aimola (North Central)
Zainab Ishaku Adamu (North East)
These zonal leaders are expected to drive development programs, strengthen local structures, and ensure that the federation’s initiatives reach every corner of the country.
In addition to zonal representation, other key positions were filled to give the board a well-rounded structure. Olumide Akintokun was elected as Technical Representative, ensuring that technical growth and coaching pathways remain a top priority. Former international player Endurance Ofem emerged as Players’ Representative, giving athletes a strong voice in the board’s decision-making.
The board also welcomed Prof. Mariam Suleiman as the NAWIS Representative, Chuma Anosike as the Sponsors’ Representative, and Major Monica Wuballa as the Military/Paramilitary Representative, further strengthening the federation’s governance structure with diverse expertise.
With the new board in place, expectations are high. The NCF is set to build on recent milestones, which include improved grassroots participation, continental successes, and increased visibility of Nigerian cricket on the international stage. The leadership team is expected to deepen partnerships, enhance youth programs, and create sustainable structures to push the sport to greater heights.
