South East Nigeria will be agog with Cricket festivities as five states from the region are set to converge at Government College Owerri in Imo state to compete for positions in the 8th Chuma Anosike Championship cup.
According to the Local Organizing Committee of Championship cup, the sponsor of the competition, Barr Chuma Anosike has added another big wing to the entire package by the inclusion of the female version in the event.
The new date for the event is Tuesday 4th – 8th April 2018. The two categories of the championship will take place simultaneously.
All the five states are expected to feature in the male category while only Abia state may not participate in the female category, thus, towering the tournament as the highest Cricket event east of the Niger.
Imo state as the defending Champion and the host will contend with the squad from the other four visiting states.
Chief Tony Ajaelu, a onetime Commissioner of Sports in Imo state and a Cricket stakeholder in the region, has already confirmed that Imo state will provide the enabling environment and 2 Cricket ovals for the championship.
