The Nigeria Cricket Federation have successfully participated in the 2 batches on the ICC Africa level (1) Facilitator Training in coaching and umpiring.
The Training which is an initiative of ICC Africa, is designed to improve and advance the education of coaches and umpires in Africa.
The first batch of the training took place from the 1st to 5th of May while the second batch took place from the 7th to 12th May.
First Batch
Musa Cyril, Assistant National Female Team Coach /head coach, Edo State Cricket association and Agbonwanaegbe Nosa, Umpire, Edo State, were the first set to attend the first batch of the training. Both participant were sponsored by the Edo State Cricket Association.
Second Batch
Obruthe Clive Ogbimi, National Male Senior Team, Enesi Dahiru, Technical Representative (NCF) Board and Ovie Osuaso, National Team Player and Coach, Edo State were the Country’s representatives in the second batch.
Obruthe Clive Ogbimi and Enesi Dahiru were sponsored by the Nigeri Cricket Federation and Ovie Osuaso was sponsored by Edo State Cricket Association.

REPORT FROM LEVEL 1 UMPIRING COURSE/FACILITATOR SEMINAR
The course:
The course, handled by Mr. Stephen Harris and Mr. Brad White focused on
principles of Basic Umpiring, knowledge of the laws of cricket, application of the
laws of Cricket, and practical drills.
Laws and application of the laws of Cricket:
The first three days was used by the facilitators to explain the 42 laws and how they
are applied in real situations. It was exciting, how the laws were explained in
relations to some scenarios.
A lot of questions were asked, and explanations given.
Presentations Skills:
All candidates were given topics or laws on the fourth day to
present to the class. The objective was to assess the candidate’s presentation skills.
The Nigerian representative, Mr. Enesi A.H presented law 30 (Batsman out
of his/her ground)
Practical
On the fifth day, a mock match was organized and umpires were taught;
– Toss taking
– Umpires positioning
– Umpires communication
– Umpires and scorers/grounds men coordination
Examination
On the Sixth day, the level one umpiring facilitator’s course examination was
conducted
The Two hour examination was online and bothers on some real game
situations.
