In a strategic move aimed at fostering the development of cricket officiating and skills among young athletes, the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers Nigeria (ACUSN) has partnered with the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) to host a one-day workshop during the 8th National Youth Games, held in Asaba in 2024. This event is part of a broader effort to promote cricket in Nigeria, focusing on nurturing the next generation of umpires, coaches, and players.
   
The one-day workshop was designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for participants, including umpires, coaches, and young cricketers. During the workshop, the facilitator Enesi Habib Amoto, Joseph Eshua (Technical Director of N.C.F Board), National Development Managers, Tonye Timinadi, and Joseph Onoja, led a series of interactive sessions. These sessions covered a range of topics essential for the growth of the game:

  1. Umpiring Techniques: Umpires were trained in the latest rules and regulations, with a strong emphasis on game management and accurate decision-making. Special attention was given to scenarios specific to youth cricket, preparing umpires to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
  2. Coaching Best Practices: Coaches received guidance on modern coaching techniques, including player development, fitness regimens, and game strategies tailored to youth athletes.
