The National Women’s Cricket team A.K.A (Female yellow Greens) is set to leave the shores of the country for the ICC Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifier scheduled to take place from the 5th – 12th May 2019 in Harare, Zimbabwe.

In the course of the last 20 months of this present administration, Cricket in Nigeria have attained greater heights that have attracted global recognition with the successes recorded at all levels both on and off the field.

The Female Yellow Greens will participate in the world cup qualifiers for the first time in the history of the sports in Nigeria. We may recall that January 2019 in Abuja, the Federation engaged in the first leg of an international bilateral friendly series with Rwanda where Nigeria emerged 3-2 winners in the 5 match encounter. In that same light, Nigeria Female Cricket was also ranked 36th position (ODI) in the world by the International Cricket Council (ICC) which also earned us a participation slot in the coveted qualifiers for the Women’s world cup.

Nigeria have been drawn in group A’ against Rwanda, Mozambique, Tanzania and host Zimbabwe. Other countries in group B’ are Kenya, Uganda, Sierra Leone and Namibia. The top teams from both groups will play in the final to determine who picks the single qualification slot.

The team will once again be led by all-rounder captain, Blessing Etim and Bating prodigy/ Vice Captain, Samantha Agazuma. Others exciting players are spinning sensation Mary Desmond, Fyneface Fate, Hannah Ayoka and more. Agatha Obulor, Joy Efosa, Grace Ephraim and Blessing Frank will also look to produce exceptional performances for the country. Shakirat Oyewole makes her debut entry into the team with some exceptional Wicket Keeping skills to provide an all-round balance in the Squad.

The Female Yellow Greens will jet out of the country on Friday 3rd May 2019.
