Edo State 2017/2018 Cricket season closing ceremony Day 3 (Secondary School girls championship)
The Edo State 2018 Cricket Season closing ceremony ends in grand style. The 2018 season closing ceremony which featured a range of activities started from Wednesday 23rd May in Auchi Edo North senatorial district to the grand finale in Edo Boys High School, Benin City on the 26th May 2016.
The Edo State Cricket Association led by the Amiable Chairman Mr Uyi Akpata, resolved at the beginning of his administration that Cricket must be played across the 3 Senatorial district of the state. Benin City, (Edo South), Ekpoma (Edo Central) have already enjoyed some level of development and stability over the years with Edo North being the fallow ground yet to be cultivated.
On the 23rd of May, The dream of establishing the game of Cricket across the various zones in the state became a reality as Cricket was officially launched in Auchi (Edo North).
EDO STATE GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP
The finals of the maiden edition of the Edo state secondary school girl’s championship took place at the Cricket oval, Edo boys high school Benin City. The competition which was sponsored by Patreli Partners is geared towards promoting female Cricket in the state.
Five schools participated in the tournament with 3 from Benin City and 2 from Ekpoma. The schools are
- Idia College (Benin City)
- Glorious Crown Academy (Benin)
- Scholars Imperial College (Benin)
- Ujueolen Grammar School (Ekpoma)
- Ambrose Ali University Secondary School (Ekpoma)
Ujueolen Grammar School defeated Ambrose Ali Secondary School to qualify from Ekpoma while Scholars Imperial went unbeaten against Glorious Crown Academy and Idia College to qualify from Benin setting up a mouthwatering final on day 4.
