The 2020 Nigeria Police Games was hosted from the 6-10th of March in Anambra State. The game of Cricket, for the first time had the opportunity of being showcased as a non scoring sport to the admiration of spectators and fans with the aim of getting it included in subsequent editions of the Nigeria Police Games on 6th March 2020.

As part of the Nigeria Cricket Federation’s drive to spread the game across all facet of life, the Military and Para military have been  a strong focal point. In this year’s 12th Biennial event, and introductory and demonstration mach was played between Team Police and Team Anambra which was witnessed by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Basil Abang, the secretary of the Nigeria Police Games Mark Balogun, Force PPR team led by Frank Anioma, rtd. ACP Osuji, the Director of Sports, Josephine Ihuwo among others. Also present were cricket fans and members of the Anambra State Cricket Association.

While the game was going on, Ikem Asika explained what was going on to the audience talking about the various aspects of the game which include bowling batting, fielding as well as various umpiring signals.

The Commissioner of Police in his remark lauded the introduction of the game in the Nigeria Police Games.

On his part, Mark Balogun said that he looks forward to having Cricket teams in other police commands so as to make it a scoring event in subsequent police games. He commended the Anambra Command for being able to put up the demonstration.

Highlight of the vent was the presentations of medals to the two teams.
