The Nigeria Cricket Federation Triangular series ends successfully over the weekend in Abuja. The hottest news in the burner for the Federation was the unveiling of the new National Team Coach and High Performance Manager, Asanka Gurusinha. The new coach  hit the ground running with his first assignment of looking at a pool of 36 elite players that were invited from across the country for camping.

The players were divided into 3 teams namely, Team Alex Nwokedi, Team Jimmy Coker and Team Chris Enahahoro. The teams were named after fallen heroes of the game who served and contributed to the development of the sport in the country.

At the end of six intensive round robin matches between the 3 sides, the players were pruned down from 36 to 26 with the latter figure going into high performance camping immediately for another 1 week.

The new coach Asanka expressed satisfaction with the level of talents seen so far but quickly identified that there is a lot of work to be done. The high performance camp will see the players go into intense fitness drills and skill development regime.

The players are expected to leave camp on Saturday 19th December 2020 for the festive seasons.
