NCF completes the distribution of grassroots equipment nationwide
Nigeria Cricket Federation yet again can pride herself in another mile stone achieved over the last 1 year. About the same time in 2020, Sports in Nigeria and the world over were grounded due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it was almost impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel for our dear sport.
Looking back 365 days, it is remarkable to know that the Nigeria Cricket Federation is the only Federation amongst the 42 Sports under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, to have successfully engaged in grassroots development by distributing training equipment to the 36 states of the country including the FCT, and engaging field officers for the purpose of coaching.
Many states have seized the opportunity as cricket development becomes more evident in the most unlikely places in Nigeria. Zamfara, Bayelsa, Gombe, Osun, Plateau, Cross River have been amongst the new states that are making waves in their various zones respectively. The accelerated growth program is beginning to yield result as the Federation continues to capture data from all the states. The future for Cricket in Nigeria has never been brighter and it is safe to be optimistic that we are on the right track in making Cricket among the top 3 sports in Nigeria by the year 2030.
