NIGERIA SUCCESSFULLY PARTICIPATES AT THE ICC UMPIRE TUTOR’S COURSE IN ZIMBABWE

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently conducted the maiden edition of the ICC Umpire Tutor’s Course in Harare Zimbabwe. The course was designed to train qualified umpires from member countries in Africa to become ICC tutors with the responsibility of training and certifying umpires that will be taking the ICC level 1 courses in their various countries. Two (2) senior umpires from Nigeria, Mr. Musa Ehizoje Bodie and Mrs. Deborah Orukpe were invited by the ICC for the course which took place from the 1st to 3rd of July in Harare.

Other responsibilities of the tutors will require them to deploy the training skills that have been learnt to help improve the efficiency of umpires and the quality of umpiring through regular physical assessments and feedback. Gender balance and participation are other areas of importance in the overall development of umpires as mandated by the ICC.
