NCF WOMEN’S T20 INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Federation is pleased to announce that the NCF Women’s T20I Invitational tournament is in full gear and all is set for the hosting of 6 nations in Lagos.
The tournament which is an expansion of the bilateral series hosted in 2019 against Rwanda will feature 4 additional countries in this edition. When the new board was inaugurated in October 2021, part of her agenda was to increase the level of women involvement in Cricket by hosting and participating at various international tournaments. True to that promise; Rwanda, Ghana, Cameroon, The Gambia and Sierra Leone will all be competing for honors, pride and ultimately rankings when they clash from the 28 of March to 3rd of April 2022 at the TBS Cricket oval in Lagos.
Draws have been completed with Nigeria and Rwanda seeded into groups A and B, while Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon were balloted accordingly. Group A will featured Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon, while Group B will play Rwanda, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
Nigeria began preparations early when 36 Women were invited to an open camp in Benin City, Edo State. Series of trial matches were conducted which pruned the team to 24 players with the shortlisted players entering a closed camp for more trial matches before the final 18 players that will participate in the tournament will be announced.
Teams are billed to arrive on the 26th of March, Press conference and technical meetings on the 27th and games begin on the 28th. Two games have been scheduled for a day with the morning fixtures at 9:30am and the afternoon fixtures at 1:50pm.
Nigeria will open her encounter against West Africa rivals Ghana in the morning while Rwanda will square out in the afternoon against Cameroon.
