Indian Cricket league week 4 ends in thrills as Hashim Mohammed of Abuja Titans breaks record

MUHAMMED HASHIM LIGHTS UP THE INDIAN CRICKET LEAGUE ABUJA, WITH RECORD BREAKING PERFORMANCE

 

Week 4 of the Indian Cricket league Abuja, turned out to be the most exciting week thus far with 2 high scoring games and all team evenly balance on points, separated by Net Run Rate but poised to take every advantage and play in the finals.

 

Early table toppers, Abuja Avengers have lost 2 games back to back and humbled by the resultant effect. Abuja Badshah have shaken off the disappointment from the first and second match to record back to back to back victories. Abuja Warriors profited from an error by Badshah on match day 1, lost the next game, bounced back on the 3rd game and narrowly lost by 2 runs in game 4. Finally, the roller coaster story of the league so far have been associated with the Abuja Titans, lost the first game by narrow margins, won the next game by narrow margins, and recorded the lowest run chase in the third game and successfully chasing the league’s highest total of 182 runs.

ABUJA WARRIORS vs ABUJA BADSHAH

Abuja warriors won the toss and elected to field first sending in Abuja Badshah to bat. Abuja Badshah scored their highest total in the league so far with an impressive 162 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Captain Abinarv Sharma was the star batsman for the Badshah with 40 runs off 26 balls.

Subhravdip Dey was the best bowler for Abuja Badshah with 2 wickets conceding 24 runs in 4 overs.

 

In the second innings, without their talisman opening batsman, Joseph Eshua, Abuja Warriors started brilliantly with in their run chase matching the required run rate by every over. Warriors lost two final wickets in their pursuit with Tairmur Bashir playing a masterclass innings, but was insufficient to upturn the required total falling agonizingly short by 2 runs.

In the end, Abuja warriors were able to score a total of 162 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs.

Taimur Bashir was classy in the run chase scoring an impressive 74 runs off 54 balls supported by Raj Bhargava with 43 runs off 38 balls.

 

Subhradip Dey of Abuja Badshah was named man of the match.

MATCH 2: ABUJA TITANS vs ABUJA AVENGERS

Abuja Avengers won the toss and elected to bat first on a bright sunny Sunday afternoon. The wickets was good and looked more like a bating wicket for the day.

Abuja Avengers stated aggressively with opening batsman Reji George scoring more boundaries that singles and in no time, raced to a half century off 28 balls to give a dream start of 68 runs after 7 overs. Abuja Avengers kept on the momentum even after Reji George fell for an impressive 58 runs off 35 balls. Runs kept piling and Abuja Avengers eventually recorded to tournament’s highest total of 182 runs for the loss of wickets in 20 overs

 

Seye Oluwaseye was the most impressive with the ball for Titans with 2 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs.

 

In the second innings, Abuja Titans with a mountain perhaps too high to climb, started on the front foot with 2 boundaries in the first over setting up a base for the almost impossible task ahead. The wicket of Durgesh in the second over seemed like a case of DEJAVU for Titans but Mr Hashim Mohammed had other plans.

 

Bolaji Tayo Stepped onto the crease to partner Hashim and that was as good as the story could go as both batsmen played such an entertaining innings as to be compared with the infamous INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE. Everything Hashim and Bolaji touched, turned into gold with bating entertainment of highest quality.

 

Hashim Mohammed broke all bating records set previously on that pitch hitting an unbelievable 116 runs of 54 balls not out with 11 fours and 7 sixes with a strike rate of 214.81, strongly supported by Bolaji Tayo with 54 runs not out off 47 balls scoring 3 sixes and 3 fours with a strike rate of 114.89.

 

Muhammed Hashim also records the highest total scored in a T-20 competition across all leagues in Nigeria for the year 2019

Abuja Titans chased down the required total scoring 184 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 17.4 overs.

Abuja Titans won by 9 wickets.
